How Check-In works in Neuchâtel

With us, you can check in whenever it’s convenient for you. No waiting at the front desk, no paperwork. Here’s how check-in works in Neuchâtel:

  1. Before your arrival, you’ll receive an email with instructions for online check-in.

  2. Once you arrive, activate your room key at the check-in kiosk.

  3. You’ll be in your room in three minutes.

What you’ll get with us:

  • 24-hour self-check-in via code or app

  • A clean, functional room

  • High-speed Wi-Fi included

  • 24-hour guest service by phone and email

What you WON’T get with us (honestly):

  • No 24-hour on-site concierge

  • No room service

  • No permanently staffed front desk

  • No breakfast

If that’s what you’re expecting, we’re not the right choice for you—in that case, we recommend a traditional hotel. If efficiency, independence, and a fair price are more important to you, you’ve come to the right place.

FAQ

How does the 24h self-check-in work at the Neuchâtel City Hotel?

Before arrival, we will send you instructions for online check-in via email. At the Neuchâtel City Hotel, you encode your room card at our check-in kiosk—no reception, no waiting. From arrival to your room takes about three minutes. No concierge, no paperwork—intentionally.

From when can I check in at the Neuchâtel City Hotel — and how late?

Check-in is possible around the clock — 365 days a year, even at night, on holidays, at Christmas. No extra charge for late arrival. The room is guaranteed for you from 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival; earlier if available. Requirement: Your room is booked and the check-in code sent.

How is the check-out at the Neuchâtel City Hotel regulated?

Check-out until 11:00 AM. Deposit room card at the kiosk and leave — no queue, no form. Late check-out is available on request if your room is not immediately reoccupied.

What happens if I no longer have my reservation number or something doesn't work?

Call our guest service — available 24/7 for emergency cases. We will resend the information to you via SMS or email and remotely open the system. In the room itself, you will also find an emergency info card with the direct number.

Is there a staffed reception at the Neuchâtel City Hotel?

Honest answer: no — consciously not. We are a self-check-in concept, not a classic hotel. If you expect concierge, room service, restaurant, or breakfast in the house, you are at the wrong place. What you get instead: 24h self-check-in via kiosk, telephone guest service 365 days a year, 101 rooms in five categories (from single room to multi-bed room), directly at Neuchâtel station (2-minute walk), at Lake Neuchâtel and in the historic old town — and a fair price because personnel costs are not in the room rate.
